Life

“Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is a dream, realize it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.
Life is a game, play it.
Life is a promise, fulfill it.
Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.
Life is a tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.
Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.”

Panda Bear Hat

Sara wanted me to make her a beanie with animal ears. I have never done one before so I had no idea how to make it. I looked online and at the book store but didn't find anything that helped me. So I finally decided to just make a normal beanie and add the ears. It didn't turn out so bad after all. She loves it! and she looks very cute with it too. Now Amanda and Issi want me to make one for them too...great!

My Perfume Evolution

In my Teen years:
My first perfume ever was Paris from Yves Saint Lauren. My friend Sarah gave to me for my birthday and it was instant love. I still go to Sephora sometimes and spray it on me. It reminds me of my youth, of those years when life was simple and there was no worries. Ahhh...Sweet memories!

Around the same time I discovered Musk by Alyssa Ashley. I liked it, but didn't use too much.

And another one: Anais Anais by Cacharel. Almost everybody I knew back then had it.

In my Twenties:
My first perfume as a "grown-up" was Eternity by Calvin Klein. I was so obsessed with it!...until I got pregnant with Amanda. I don't know what happened during the pregnancy but I started feeling nauseated every time I used it. It got so bad, I couldn't stand the smell and gave it to my sister. I still (after 12 years) can't stand the smell of it.

In my Thirties:
I've used Rush by Gucci. It was ok for me, but every time I used it, I had lots of complements from people telling me how good I smelled.

I also had Burberry. I really liked it, but I think lots of people liked it too. So I stoped wearing it just because of that.

And now...I've been using Narciso Rodriguez for the last three years...I love it! It is so feminine...I really feel good when I wear it. I wish it wasn't so expensive so I can wear it daily!

I have both, Narciso Rodriguez for Her Eau de Parfum and Musc collection eau de parfum intense.

French Bread

Today seemed like the perfect day to make French Bread. I've got this recipe a few months ago from About.com and I like it very much.

Ingredients:
•1/4 cup warm water
•1 cup tepid water
•1 teaspoon kosher salt
•1 package yeast
•3 1/2 cups unbleached flour
•1 tablespoon cornmeal
•1 beaten egg white

Pour the yeast in the 1/4 cup of warm water. Let it sit for a few minutes to activate the yeast. Once the top is foamy with bubbles, pour the yeast mixture into the mixing bowl. Also add the other cup of water and the salt. Mix this together.
Next, attach the dough hook to the mixer. Add the flour a little bit at a time. Keep kneading the dough for another 2 minutes after all the flour is in. You'll see a soft, slightly sticky dough.
Spray a large bowl with oil. And cover with oiled plastic wrap and place in a warm place to rise for 1 hour. It should double in size.
Flour your surface and rolling pin. Punch down the dough and remove it from the bowl. Roll into an 8x12 in rectangle. Once it's in a rectangle, roll the dough like a jelly roll from the long end down and pinch the ends together.
Lay the cornmeal on the baking sheet and place the dough on top, so the seam is facing down. Cover it again and let it rise for another 45 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. When the dough is ready, beat the egg white and brush the top of the dough. With a sharp knife, make some thin diagonal slices across the top of the dough, about 1/8 inch deep.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. When you tap it, it should sound hollow. Allow it to cool before slicing. Enjoy!

New beginnings

A few weeks ago my mom helped me with a gardening project. We planted some trees, roses and vegetable seeds. I have never been very good at keeping a garden, so I hope this is the year I can be successful at it.

This is my dwarf lemon tree (I also have a apple tree)

We planted some seeds: tomatoes, bell peppers, and eggplant.

We also planted some rose bushes
